Why use a Forestry Mulcher

When a property owner is looking to clear land, they often see these images play out in their head. Heavy machinery like bulldozers, large excavators, or highlifts pushing trees over forming giant piles of debris that require either burning or a massive grinder to be brought in to pulverize the material to mulch. A lot of extra and large equipment that packs your soil and in the end costs a bunch of 💸 💸 💸 flying from your wallet!

As time is moving forward, many municipalities are trying to be more "GREEN" and eco-friendly! They are banning the use of fire to eliminate tree and vegetation debris. Our summers seem to be getting more and more dry allowing embers to be carried by the wind and lighting neighboring properties on fire. All the smoke from these fires are said to be causing "climate change" as more carbon is being released into the atmosphere!

A second reason why the old style of clearing is harmful to your property is because it rips the topsoil directly from your property. Did you know, that even if a property is covered in invasive species like honeysuckle and eastern red cedar, the soil still holds dormant native seeds waiting to be allowed the opportunity to grow??? After removing the topsoil, these heavy machines pack the remaining dirt so tight that water won't penetrate allowing nutrients to be soaked in.

Here at #NoLimitsLandManagement, we work with a machine called a Forestry Mulcher or masticator. We grind and chip vegetation and trees where they stand. This grinded up mulch remains on the property splayed out across the ground in a nice even bed. There are several reasons why this is an advantage to the property owner. What is a major concern when clearing trees and vegetation...EROSION...when rain falls on barron ground, it cuts into the soil causing the dirt to be washed away. With all the new construction in our area, everyone has seen silt runoff on the bottom side of hills, prime example of what I'm describing!

After we leave our jobsite, the layer of mulch that remains, acts like a watershed protecting your precious topsoil because once you loose it, you'll have to haul in more to replace it which means more money coming from your wallet! Another advantage to forestry mulching, all the mulch that we leave across the top of your soil starts to break down and biodegrade back into the soil. You know when you go to your favorite home and garden supply store and they offer compost(decayed organic material), what do you think mulch turns into...FERTILIZER! All those dormant warm season grasses that are in the topsoil that we saved by forestry mulching will now have the opportunity to germinate and flourish. They have a protected seed bed(layer of mulch), a blanket to warm up the topsoil(layer of mulch), and controlled fertilizer being released back into the soil as the mulch breaks down!
